Talia, who had never even had a sleepover at a friend's house, camped-out on Thursday in Oxnard with her summer day camp, Camp Explorers. I pitched a tent next to her group's, just in case she freaked-out during the night. No freakouts at all... Tali handled it like the independent champ that she is. We're so proud of her!!!

First Post in a Long Time

Isn't this a great photo of me and Eliav? He pooped in the potty today, BTW. I know, that doesn't seem like a big deal, but it's an insanely big deal. Just don't let on to him that you think it's a big deal or he will kill you. Seriously.

Okay, so it looks like I just accidentally deleted all of the photos that have ever been posted to this blog :) I'm going to look into retrieving. Don't hold your breath :)

back to the future

I can't believe it's been 3 years since we last updated this blog! I guess life kinda took over and I'm only now coming up for air. Life has been wonderfully chaotic since I last updated...Tali is now almost 5, Eliav almost 3, and our newest addition, little Maya, is 15 months and officially started walking today! In fact, today was also a day for firsts for Eliav, who made his first (and second) poop in the potty! This may not sound like much of an accomplishment, but believe me it is, and came with much cajoling, threatening, bribing, cheer-leading, and just plain luck and patience.

Anyway, it's nearly midnight so I'm going to try to dig up a photo or too and call it a night. Hopefully it won't be another 3 years before you hear from me again!

Family update: Fall, 2006

Well, a lot has happened since the last posting over 2 months ago! Tali started pre-school in September and absolutely loves it. She turned two a few weeks after school started, and this weekend will have her 'official' birthday party with her friend Shira at "My Gym". Eliav is basically crawling, and is still as sweet and happy as ever. Adam has been continuing his job search, and has been dilligently researching, applying and interviewing for jobs. In his free time he's been cooking and has recently taken up running again. Ilana turned 30 last week (!) and Adam threw her an incredible middle-eastern-themed birthday party complete with hookah pipe. All in all, we're all doing well.

What's happening now

I was just reading through some of Adam's old blogs from when Tali was first born, and realized we haven't really written anything about Eliav since he was born more than 4 months ago. Such is the lot of the 2nd born, I guess. =) Anyway, as much for ourselves as for anyone, I thought I'd jot down a few thoughts about what Tali and Eliav are doing these days so we can look back on this later and remember.

Eliav's personality remains sweet and happy. It's easy to get him to smile if you make eye contact with him, sing to him, or make funny noises. He loves to be tickled, and squeals with delight from kisses on his tummy, neck or face. He is really quite mellow, and never cries when given a bath or even when he's taken out and might be a bit chilly. He loves watching his big sister do anything, and she is wonderful with him--kissing him, whispering when she thinks he's sleeping so as not to wake him ("shhhh--Ah-yav!"), and rocking him ("rocky rocky!) when he's in the swing or bouncy seat. Eliav is in the process of cutting his first teeth, so he's been in a good amount of discomfort. In the last few days, however, he's figured out how to get his toes into his mouth, and teething on those seems to help him a bit--and also happens to be super cute.

Tali is a curious and fun toddler, still cautious but definitely starting to push the boundaries with her Ima and Abba to see how we'll react. She is learning how to use her potty, and has used it successfully already several times. In her mommy and me gym class, she loves to jump on the trampoline and play in the ball crawl, and this past week even walked holding my hand across the balance beam, and then hung suspended several times from the high bar, with no help. She only wants to feed herself and drink from a grown-up cup, and has even figured out how to work the dvd player--a future techie in the making! Her favorite songs are Wheels on the Bus and Itsy Bitsy Spider, and favorite books include Once Upon a Potty, Goodnight Moon and Dr. Seuss's ABC book. She is learning her colors, but still often thinks every color is blue, and can pretty much count to ten (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 7, 8!!). She is starting preschool this September, but she has no idea and her Ima is still in denial. Hopefully both with survive the transition alright.

Adam and I are doing really well, enjoying our time as parents and our rare moments together away from our kids as well. Tomorrow we are embarking on a cruise with my family to the Baltics.

Lots of love,
The Sinclairs

Happy kids
